Classroom Policies & Procedures, About Me Letter

Objectives: SWBAT -
  1.  Discuss classroom policies and procedures.
  2. Write an "about me" letter to the teacher.
  • I can follow classroom policies and procedures.
  • I can describe myself to my teacher.

Writing Prompt: Students will write an "About Me" letter to the teacher.


To Do:  
1) Review the finalized list of qualities of a good student/teacher.
2) Discuss specific classroom policies and procedures.
  • Homework expectations
  • Passes from class
  • organization
  • supplies and planners 
  • Safety Drills
  • Behavior Management Systems
3) Pass out instructions for "About Me" letter.  Students will be asked to write an introductory letter about themselves and their experiences in mathematics.

What a Good Student/Teacher Looks, Sounds, Acts Like

Objective: SWBAT (Students Will Be Able To) Create a list of expected behaviors.
  • I can collaborate with my peers to create a list of expected behaviors.
To Do:
1) Teacher introduction
2) Student introduction
3) Class Discussion: What does a good student look, sound, & act like?
  •  Students will get out a sheet of paper and, with a shoulder partner, spend two minutes creating a list of the qualities of a good student.
  • Discuss the lists and create a compiled class list.

  •  Students will get out a sheet of paper and, with a shoulder partner, spend two minutes creating a list of the qualities of a good teacher.
  • Discuss the lists and create a compiled class list.
5) At the end of the school day, the teacher will combine ALL of the class lists into a master list to be used as the guidelines for behavior in the classroom.  The lists will be posted in the class during the year.
